The General

Genuinely funny movie. I was giggling at regular intervals. The screen shot below is just one piece of Keaton's genius; I would love for a gentleman to give me a similarly inspiring photo of himself.

Marlboro Baby

This reminds me of Mad Men. Crazy how much things have changed, though of course I haven't been around for long enough to know firsthand.
my apologies for the lack of source on this picture, it was just sitting in an old folder on my desktop. sloppy of me I know.

Restrepo

Watched the documentary Restrepo the other day. Very humanizing. It was a good, thoughtful piece. I'm realizing lately what I like in a documentary and what I don't-- often the choice of a narrow subject and a focus on human drama over political or social agenda makes a big difference in how I feel about them. I used to think I didn't like documentaries very much at all, but it's a pretty diverse genre.

Also the countryside was eerily pretty in Afghanistan. Photo below is a screenshot from the film.

Lolita

This classic by Nabokov is amazing, and there are two pretty great movies of it as well. Stanley Kubrick's version from 1962 is a little tame but definitely a classic, and the 1997 version with Jeremy Irons is great too. Here's a screen shot I took of the 1962 film:

Rodarte

This fall/winter collection is perhaps my favorite. I'm wishing for heavy, luxuriously warm fabrics to wrap myself in for the coming season. Pictures from Style.com.
